That's why the U.S. doesn't elect Libertarians to office. Like it or not as a Libertarian, the U.S. ruling circles like being involved militarily in the world. It's good for business to have a strong military presence.

The U.S. probably wouldn't have cared about Hitler if it wasn't for the fact that he was making it impossible to do business in Europe and was threating to take over our parent country, Great Britain. The U.S. ruling circles have always maintained strong ties with their counterparts in England, despite the wars fought in the late 18th and early 19th century, and felt an obligation to come to their aid. Which is probably why FDR ignored warnings and indications that the fleet in Pearl Harbor was going to be attacked. He needed a reason to get us involved in WW2.

The invasion of Germany hardly happened immediately following the declaration of war. It was 3 years later. I'm sure you recall that Mr. Hitler exhibited an extreme reluctance to surrender.

And that's not the question in any case. The question is this: Would Libertarians have answered Germany's declaration of war on the US with a declaration of war on Germany?
