That's why the U.S. doesn't elect Libertarians to office.

The Libertarian Party holds more offices than any other third party. The reason why Libertarians haven't appeared en masse in higher political offices has far more to do with our affinity for freedom-enhancing measures - by which I mean, adhering to the Constitution - than our positions on national defense. The hypocrites, socialists, and parasite classes have everything to lose if Libertarians get into office.

Like it or not as a Libertarian, the U.S. ruling circles like being involved militarily in the world.

In general, they do.

It's good for business to have a strong military presence.

Spoken like a true socialist. No, what's good for business is the opposite of having garrisons all over the world: free trade, competition, and the formal/informal ties that accompany it. As Schumpeter wrote, the dividends arising from international commerce are only partially described in financial terms.

Which is probably why FDR ignored warnings and indications that the fleet in Pearl Harbor was going to be attacked. He needed a reason to get us involved in WW2.

LOL. Another conspiracy theory?
