Like it or not, futility of care and rationing of care is a big issue these days and is destined to become bigger. Absolutely. And while medical ethics experts may be thinking about these things, the person on the street isn't. There is an increasing division between the care were are capable of providing in the earliest and latest stages of life and the societal resources we have available (or are willing to make available) to pay for that care.
