My swing-era parents noted that their parents were really worried about Swing. Hey, there were some "great lyrics" which, seem darned suggestive. But what was with the men in my "hippie" generation allowing a virtual end to slow close dancing? My parents, who hated my rock music and worried about it, seemed to think something good was lost with the advent of far apart fast dancing.

Now, my dad says he "likes Rock better than Country." Go figure.

I guess its worth noting that none of our parents ever heard that Fugs record I found(I still wouldn't dare subject my mother to it). If they had, 9 out of 10 would have confiscated and destroyed it immediately, I have no doubt. But now, hoping we can be better and more understanding than our parents were, by being less strict, we often feign nonchalance and let it play with a minor grouch or two. Yes, we bitch, but it certainly ain't the same.
