<It's the Singapore model the Moslems need to copy, not the Malaysian.>

But Singapore isn't Muslim. So you're saying, the only way to become prosperous and powerful, is for Muslim nations to stop being Muslim. That's exactly what Mahathir (and Bin Laden) is accusing non-Muslims of trying to do: cultural genocide. The chances of them following your advice, are nil.

The Muslim Malays rule a nation with a large non-Muslim Chinese minority. But they have done what virtually no other Muslim-ruled nation has done. They have followed the example of the Muslim 7th-10th Century Golden Age, and allowed non-Muslims to live in peace and prosperity. This is the path to success. For instance, if Morocco and Iraq had treated their sizable Jewish minority well, those Jews could have helped them do what the Chinese have done for Malaysia. It could have provided a route for foreign investment, and building up a hi-tech economy. But, instead, they drove them out, and those Jews went to Israel. So semiconductor fabs get built in Israel and Malaysia, but not Morocco or Iraq.

Mahathir is not a Jihadist. Or, to be more exact, he is calling for a Jihad carried out by self-improvement (science and economic development), not revenge wars.
