Jozef:

Looks like Linux and Suse have an extended opportunity with the MSFT delay...Also, reading between the lines, Opteron servers appear to be fast changing the server landscape.

(Currently, Microsoft has posted only the 32-bit and 64-bit Itanium SKUs for download; the AMD ones are "coming soon," executives said.)"

The AMD SKU's should adequately bridge demand until q3 of FY04 when AMD is nearing completion of A64 ramp!

Jozef - the interesting thing here is that Enterprise Edition is only offered as an OEM solution tied to a service offering, on 8 processor or larger boxes, which is a fairly high bar. MSFT would certainly not propose that OS packaging if there were not an Enterprise capable OEM asking for the package, because a lot of behind the scenes qualification has to occur before the offering can be made.

So who is the OEM planning Opteron-based enterprise large systems??
