Many Democrats voted for Arnold. Why? Because he may be a liberal and because Davis and Bustamante were poor candidates. A liberal Republican is better than a corrupt Democrat, at least that is what many thought. Whether Arnold turns out to be what he promised is yet to be seen, but Arnold had the perfect chance and took full advantage of it. Now all Californians have to try and support him, praying he doesn't turn into a Bushie. I have two powerful Democrat friends who threw Arnold a fundraiser. $5000 a head. They've been given a place on his advisory committee. That's promising.
