I think that's what it will come too but Intel will claim x86-64 was their idea all along...

I dunno what would happen to IA-64.

Actually didn't Intel have to do something similar when they abandoned Rambus and switched support to the existing DDR RAM AMD was already using?

Naming the OS Windows w/64 bit extensions rather than AMD64 or just Windows64 is playing right into Intels hands as the new Prescott may have "64 bit extensions"...
Sounds like AMD is getting set up for another Microsoft/Intel screw job?
