I'm not sure I understood your post; but here is a comparative illustration;

In the yr 2000 the dollar volume in billions for the Nasdaq was $20,395.3...against a share volume of 442.8 billion shares.

In the year 2001 the total dollar volume in Billions was $10,934.6 the number of shares that year was 471.2 billion....

By fall 02 (9 months) in billions the dollar value of the volume in billions had sunk to $6,254.3 with only 375.8 billion shares traded.

Hope that helps build a perspective. Sure opens my eyes.

I didnt get the LU part of your post so if you want to recast one of us could try and answer. I dont buy any stocks with floats like LU...so it probably wont be me.
