The modern age grew out of aspects of the preceding age. Of course, the followers of Zeus do not, for all practical purpose, exist, and the followers of Allah have had a problem with their attitudes towards women. They do not need to become Catholic to be socialized out of it, but it is probable that reverence for Mary had a lot to do with the rise in the stature of women in the Western World. Again, you are deliberately ahistorical. Most of what you attribute to religion should be attributed to barbarism, and does not apply to a more civilized disposition. In Islam, for example, during its period of flourishing, it was relatively tolerant, and degraded as its fortunes and level of general education and refinement decayed......
