We should start by changing the society for the better. And I mean really doing good and not some devious plan for profitability in the guise of help. > It is suicide to show yourself thinking of changing the government of NK, for a citizen there ... I agree. But we are looking at this differently. I am not interested in overthrowing the government. I am only interested in improving the lives of North Koreans. Regime change will be a side effect of the new and more prosperous society. Look at it this way. Before a people can fight for their freedom, they need a certain caloric intake. So long as you are starving and feel totally unsafe, there is not much you can do. On the flip side of the coin, so long as the ruling class feels insecure and has strong "hording" instincts (to a great extent due to scarcity) then they are mostly concerned with staying in power and will not hesitate to kill as many as it takes to remain in charge. By making a society more prosperous and bringing in the feelings of security to all (including our evil dictators), we accomplish three big tasks. Firstly, the dictators are more willing to loosen their grip on society because they feel more secure. And since they feel more secure, their primary concern moves away from staying in power to getting rich. And that means they have to make improvements to the country. On the other front, once the people are not concerned with daily food and bare necessities, they have time to work on creating long term solutions (it is impossible to think long term when you are concerned with the immediate term). And finally the two movements meet somewhere in the middle and a regime change is achieved. Had we taken this approach in the 70s and 80s, we may very well not have had the problems we have today. If we start this a path now, we shall reduce our problems in the future. > Good point about the mongols, yes, but how long did that take It took only one or two generations. And that was without a coordinated clever design. I am assuming we can do better if we actually plan for it. None of this btw negates making sure NK knows where we draw the line.
