I hate to state the obvious, but Bush hasn't "shown... and clear out when the job is done".

You're kidding, right? It is beyond imagination that an administration could have handled the situation in Iraq better. We are creating a government in a country with the population of Canada. From scratch. Setting up an entire government. Complete with everything from mints to zip codes. Military to police force. I continue to be amazed at the progress. And this is six months down the road. A year or two from now, we'll have a presence, but it is pretty clear it won't be anywhere near today's presence. Five years from now, we may be out altogether.

Amazing. Just amazing.

Replace communist with Muslim fundamentalist, or terrorist, and the rhetoric is very familiar.

I could care less about the rhetoric; I suppose on some level the rhetoric would be the same as that during any war in history. I'm interested in what is being accomplished.

Besides the "rhetoric" please identify what substantive similarities you see? We don't exactly have enemy streaming down the Ho Chi Minh trail to take us on. The resistance is very limited and will continue to get more limited.

Anyway, there is no point arguing about it. Two years from now we'll know who was right. As long as some idiot liberal doesn't get elected and screw things up.
