I didn't write that very well. :)

I don't recall Intel ever giving out unit values for their share. I just recall trying to put the tidbits together and noting that they never all fit into the same market.

As far as the "language on market share is very precise" -- I suppose so if you consider "we gained share" being precise. While this is clear... it isn't particularly useful. AMD should provide some market share by segment data during their analyst conference. However, since it most likely is not as overwhelmingly positive (losses in many segments) they should do this since AMD has noted progress in notebooks and ought to be able to show some substantial progress (from a very low starting point) for servers/workstations.
