just because he won doesn't make it a good decision. hitting on 18 and drawing a 3 doesn't make what you did smart; come on.

<<Didn't he already pitch once quite well on 3 days?>>

yeah, for 4 innings (in Game 7 against the Cubs). as i said in my post, i had no doubt that Beckett would pitch fine for 5-6 innings. the issue was what would happen if he faltered, how that would strain the bullpen, and what position that would put them in for Game 7.

<<Starting a proven winner early>>

you have got to be kidding me. "proven winner"?! Josh Beckett is 23. he has 17 CAREER wins, in not even 300 career innings, and was a whole 9-8 this year.

i don't care if the decision worked out or not; its still one of the dumbest things i've ever seen. take away a great slide by Alex Gonzales and two errors by Jeter (i took a very refreshing nap while he was making the pivot on the potential double play on Lee's bunt; he doesn't get charged with an error but man i think Cecil Fielder could've turned that double play) and the whole thing would have blown up in his face.

absolutely stupid.

i'll bet anyone who cares to offer me their money that the Marlins don't even finish .500 next year with the knucklehead as their manager.

Cheers
