Well, you are playing it close to the vest, so let me try: do you imagine that the dirty little secret is that Elizabeth ran off voluntarily, in rebellion against her parents? Even if that were so, the couple was not entitled to interfere with custodial rights, nor was Elizabeth emancipated. However, it seems to me that if there were some trouble, either with the parents or with Elizabeth, the rumor mill would have floated it a long time ago. Perhaps not, maybe a circus awaits us. I do not find it so odd to imagine a combination of seduction and intimidation as an explanation of Elizabeth's behavior........
