That was something that always struck me so odd when my mother was dying. She KNEW she was terminal; she had chosen to die at home without any intervention, and yet she fought increasing the morphine. She didn't want to get "addicted". For a mostly reasonable, bright woman, this seemed so peculiar, but I have heard others tell similar stories.
Personally I am a big fan of drugs and a coward. I begged for an epidural to start BEFORE I went into labor. I won't have dental work done without gas. I thought Brave New World sounded wonderful.
Ok- I am kidding about that one.
