To put it more bluntly: it would be quite a trick to run the biggest budget deficit in the history of the planet, and still end a presidential term with fewer jobs than when you started. And despite yesterday's good news, that's a trick President Bush still seems likely to pull off.

This is wholly unfair. During the past 3 years, we have had a recession, the World Trade Center Attacks, corporate malfeasance the likes of which this country has never seen before, the Afghanistan War, the Iraq War, and SARS. All of this and yet S&P profits are set to top the "bubble" year. Quite a feat for this country as a whole. The WTC attacks alone could have caused job losses we have been witness to, not even looking at all of the other factors that have gone into making this a jobless recovery so far.

IMO, "analyses" such as that of Krugman which do not take these into account are not honest, and probably driven by a political agenda. Any fair minded person can see that we are living through extraordinary times.....the fact that our lives even have a semblance of normalcy is quite extraordinary IMO.

PS. How about sticking to facts and not Op-ed pieces which many times distort the facts?
