I know what happened but I also know that half of San Mateo is paying $500/year property taxes while renting to groups of families who work in high tech and this is bankrupting the cities. We need to reassess, to 1990 levels or something. Its obvious the older generation is ripping off the young, totally. And then they hide behind your "remember the 70s" or "no new taxes" smokescreen.

Some of the people who benefit from these laws are so clueless I suspect they will lose the next battle though. My local paper ran a story a while back about some old woman living in a 2.9 million dollar hillsbourough house who would have been "out on the streets" without 13. I'm sure the folks reading the article don't get the irony that 25 year olds have no patience for this kind of malarky. Never, never complain about hardship while you pay nothing to live in a 2.9 million dollar house, while you get free healthcare from the state.
