As I recall the military chief-of-staff, among other high-ranking officers, were replaced or reassigned prior to the war. I think it was former chief-of-staff General Shiniski(sp?) who let the call for more troops and instead wound up out of a job, while his replacement marched the troops into the Bush-Cheney war. The Administration wanted as many yes-men in place as possible and obviously didn't want anyone to spoil what they perceived would become a great political invasion and a nice spot in history for the Bush dynasty. Indeed, as the Kennedy dynasty family got tagged "Camelot" the Bush dynasty family should be tagged "Shamealot."
