Raymond, thanks for your correction of my way out of date statement that wind energy costs several times that of oil.
Countries with lots of coastline, and shallow waters along them will particularly benefit.

One or two practical problems with wind farms: you can not turn them on and off like gas or coal stations, so you need to offset the variability of the source with other means.

Second problem are non-negligible transport costs: think of the wind farms on the shelf in the north producing for middle or south Germany.

Currently in Germany the developments are underway to significantly increase the working temperature in (planned or actual? dont remember) coal and gas power stations to improve the yield.
