I agree with you that the Dean flap will fade.

Hillary would be wise to wait until 2008. Barring some cataclysmic event, or the resurrection of JFK looking to complete his eight years, I think that Bush is a lock for 2004.

After Bush, it is not clear who is next up for the GOP. Whoever it is, they will be hard pressed to match Hillary's fund raising capabilities. Time for campaign finance reform. <gg>

On the issue of pandering, Kerry and Clark (a closet Republican) seem to be setting the standard, particularly on the war issue. It will not win them points in the long run. The two candidates that have been consistent on the right, Gephardt and Lieberman, are probably not acceptable to the base of the Democratic base. That leaves Dean, Mr. Consistency. Still the man to beat.

BTW, I almost feel compelled to leave a disclaimer (as it relates to Dean) for the benefit of Mr. Spirit.
