I had one of those done last spring at a medical center, a Mohs to remove a cancer next to my eye. 4 hours, $4k. It liked to drove me nuts, 4 hours laying there being cut and burned, but it beat having the cancer spread to my eye.

The solution is full disclosure and a gov't sponsored up-to-date database of disorders, treatments and outcomes, easily accessible to the layman.

There is our inescapable difference. You look upon the Government as a benign source that is here to help you. I look upon it as the worst possible choice that is used when all else fails.
