I had to go back and read the posts in order...UFB! Wisconsin has (IMO) a serious DUI problem. There are many people who are driving our roads with 7-10 drunk driving convictions and I just don't understand how that can happen. I don't doubt these people feel bad after they sober up and realize they killed someone's child but by that time its too late. I'm not sure what the answer is because these people keep driving regardless of revocation. I just can't understand why people wont call a cab when they're stewed. If someone wants to be Otis Campbell 7 nights per week - fine! It's your life and its really not my problem....until you place the key in the ignition. Then it becomes my problem as the drivers lack of judgment now threatens my friends, family and neighbors. Now, I'm not going to say I've never driven when I had too much to drink because I have. I was lucky to not get caught or have an accident. But that was when I was 18-21 years old which is only mentioned for perspective - it's not meant as an excuse. The point is that most of us come to the conclusion that its not smart and we don't do it again. For whatever reason these habitual DUI people never come to grips with the potential cost (in terms of human life) of their actions. Somehow we've got to find a way to both punish and solve this problem. If that means seizing their assets then do it but lets make some headway for a change. I'm not judging anyone for their vice....like I said - get stewed 7 days a week if you want but do it in your own home. Driving is not a right....its a privilege
