That's one way to see it. Another is that forcing the Iraqi council to accept Turkish troops, knowing full well the violent outbursts the presence of Turkish troops could cause in Iraq, would be very dumb indeed.

If Bush et al did their homework beforehand, they would know the animosity Kurds harbor towards the Turkish army (not to Turks in general). It was a stupid idea to start with and FORCING Kurds to accept Turkish troops would be even more stupid.

What does that mean to you? Obviously Bush would LOVE to have those Turks there. Obviously it would go a long way toward getting other help. Obviously Bush COULD force the Iraqi Council to accept this. BUT, and to me this is a BIGGIE, Bush has too much HONOR and DECENCY to force what would be best FOR HIM on others. Speaks well of the man IMHO. jdn

Look......its real hard to talk to you all when you starting putting Bush's alleged qualities in caps.

First off, we pay the president to run the country soundly and try to keep us out of trouble. Clearly, Bush has failed that aspect of his mission.

We also pay people to advise the president. Those salaries amount to millions of dollars per year. Who were the advisors who told Bush to go into this war and takeover a country that has such bad ethnic politics?

Secondly, who were the *ssholes; excuse me, the advisors who told the president to get the Turks to send in troops. The Kurds occupy northern Iraq. Any fool knows that the Kurds and the Turks are mortal enemies. And no surprise, its the Kurds on the Iraqi governing council that are objecting to Turkish troops. Of course, the Turks are relieved because they didn't want to send troops into Iraq in the first place.

Do you know why? Because everyone knows that Iraq is a quagmire except for Bush, his advisors and the people who voted for him.

In the meantime, that was 10k Turkish troops who were to relieve some of our troops. Instead, we will have to send in more troops from the US to make up for the loss.

Bush and his advisors need to be fired. Oops! You all elected them into office. We can't fire them. What a mess!
