Bush is the national version of Davis

Davis brought his problems on himself. Bush, OTOH, did NOT cause the recession, the shortfall in revenues that came about BEFORE the tax cuts took effect, the rapid growth in federal spending through 2001, or the 9/11 attacks that played a major role in delaying recovery. As for farm subsidies and other special-interest spending initiatives, they are hardly a new phenomenon. Finally, as for "blaming congress", congress DOES control the purse strings and, as YOU know (or should know), farm-state senator Tom Daschle controlled the senate until this year.

I have to say, listening to republicans defend Bush's fiscal mismanagement is really bizarre.

I think they are still in denial that their beloved candidate turned out to be this incompetent. Sooner or later they'll clue in and he'll go down in history as one of the worse presidents ever (Harding anyone?).
