You're not supposed to have sex unless you are prepared to raise a child.

If you redraft that to say "You're not supposed to have sex unless you are prepared to accept the risk that you may conceive and have to raise a child," correct.

Just as you're not supposed to drive unless you are prepared to accept the risk that you may be injured or killed in an auto accident.

That's called accepting responsibility for one's actions -- something I had thought you agreed with.

In both cases, you do what you can to minimize the risk. But in both cases, you make the decision to engage in the behavior knowing that the risk exists, and you accept that risk and its consequences.

It's really much more global- at least from the bits I read- not only must you be prepared to raise a child, you must also be prepared to raise a severely handicapped child- even a child who may never be sentient, in terms we can understand.
