Dean is for 100% tax hikes and 100% anti-war. How much more liberal can you get on the two biggest issues heading into 2004? Don't fool yourself. Dean is not a moderate at all. He is trying to appear more moderate by changing his stances on seven key issues, but it's not sincere. 90% of Dean's support comes from the anti-war left. They are an energetic group, but they do not win national elections.

Newsweek poll shows swing-voters disillusioned by Bush.
This is why it's SO important to nominate someone tough on defense, moderate on taxes, progressive on the environment and most important, with a high macho quotient. Even disillusioned swing-voters give Bush high marks on defense issues in general, though not Iraq in particular. Dean is the worst major candidate to take away those key voters.

Dean has some fine qualities, but he is not going to have any success against Bush. They will rip him limb from limb before he even gets started. However right now Bushies are all supporting Dean. Once reason he's ahead, because the right-wing media is saying great things about him. All so they can set him up then destroy him.
