Can't tell if you are being serious or not, but just in case ... Prof. Nicholas de Genova. I didn't defend de Genova's views but I do defend his right to say what he says even if I don't agree with it. Actually, from my Pac. NW class, there is a long and vibrant history to this notion that those who disagree with our gov't are anti American and traitorous. Back in the NW in the late 1890's and early 20th century, union organizers were considered very unAmerican; in fact, some tried to accuse them of treason. Their goals and their comments were considered very radical and dangerous at the time. During WWI, they were marked as German sympathizers and after the war, as commie sympathizers. What were their radical ideas: the 8 hour day, lice free bedrolls in the logging camps, sanitary toilet facilities, a minimum wage. Shocking stuff, huh? Unfortunately, being ahead of your time can get you killed as a number of them found out! By the way, CNBC was talking about George Soros and his multi-million dollar quest to oust President Bush. Just as I hoped they would, they talked about how Soros can get around even the new campaign finance laws by funding "outside" groups, not any particular candidate. So much for the stupid notion of getting the money out of politics ... What's to get around? If you agree to keep your campaign expenses down to $45 million, the gov't will give you nearly $20 million more. Its a joke..........it costs a minimum of $65 million to run for president and we say we're a democracy. ted
