What makes you think killing 1000 to 1 would make them stop....where would they find 1000 without killing innocents?
I assume that matters to you?

israEL should have gone further east and pushed palestinians out- and shown the palestinians there was a real cost to their murdering israelis.

This is true, but Israel unfortunately never really had sufficient world support to carry this through. Prior to the 1956 war, Israel had been attacked and harassed by various means some 100,000 and the UN refused to even publish these attacks so that everyone could see them. The world powers did very little, that is, until Israel finally got fed up and began to defend herself. Only then did the UN get involved and it was decidedly against Israel.

Let's face it. The same anti-israeli forces that pressed Israel then essentially press her today. If Israel were to seriously retaliate against her enemies, the UN would be up in arms, and I suspect even America would turn cold against her. Everyone wants ME Oil and after the 1973 oil blackmail now walk gingerly around Arabs, despite that the Arabs are just plain wrong.
