The world doesn't owe supply chain architects a living, Lizzie. This is the Real World. The fact that a barrel of US oil shipped to Japan does you no good is irrelevant. It does other US citizens good.

This is the real world mr. clueless about economics. There is little value in natural resource exports. Japan knows this and so do we (well, I doubt the Bush administration does, despite Elaine Chau's MBA).

If the export machine grinds to a halt in the high value add capex goods, all the oil in the world won't help us.

That is what happened in mid-2002, ask any high value add exporter. Other industries were also hurts like tourism.
