Ted, by the way, did you catch John 'F' Kerry on Jay Leno last night? Rode in on a Harley, wearing a leather jacket and jeans that looks all too out-of-place for the guy.

What an act. If I were a Democrat, I'd be picking Howard Dean over this fake. Maybe.

Meanwhile, over on the Dubya thread, the local Kerry-lover is going ga-ga over the publicity stunt.

...I can distinguish between quality of people. I didn't always agree with all of Riordan's politics but I knew I was dealing with an honest, capable person and felt comfortable voting for him. Ditto for Bush I. I don't feel that comfort with an Issa......nor Bush II.

How can campaign finance laws distinguish between "honest capable people" spending money and "shady self interested" people? It can't. You can't apply the law different because of the personality or political leaning of the person campaigning (for office or for a political idea).

It is as Tenchusatsu said. You like Soros, or at least you think he is honest and decent. You don't like Bush Jr. or Issa. Personally I don't want to limit how much any of them can spend but if you are going to have some sort of limit is has to apply to everyone.
