1:06PM U.S. 10-year note earns 4.360% yield at auction ($TNX) by Rachel Koning
CHICAGO (CBS.MW) -- The U.S. Treasury on Thursday sold $17 billion in new 10-year notes at a yield of 4.360 percent. The bid-to-cover ratio was 1.90, meaning 1.9 bids were received for every one security sold. The Treasury said 70.6 percent of the total bids were awarded the 4.360 percent yield. Non-competitive bids, including foreign demand, totaled $155.6 million.

12:49PM Moody's sees challenge as low-rated debt matures by Rachel Koning
CHICAGO (CBS.MW) -- A total of $23.7 billion of U.S. speculative-grade corporate bond and bank debt will mature in 2004, but the low ratings on nearly a third of that debt could present challenges to companies hoping to refinance, Moody's says in a recent report. According to the credit rating agency, $11.5 billion, about 32 percent of the total, has a rating of "Caa1" or below. "As bonds in the Caa rating category are the most difficult to finance, this will represent the largest refunding challenge over the next year," said Moody's senior analyst Paul Aran, one of the authors of the study. "A number of these companies may need to restructure their balance sheets in order to refinance successfully."

Hi Harry:

SCMR did not give any revenue guidance for the quarter. From the call all sales were foreign (5 product sales, rest services) so it didnt' include the defense dept contract.

CEO was forceful in not providing data on customers in trials (as part of the dd they have to be secretitive so i didn't expect any news here but if we see gov't sales) but did indicate they are in more trials than last quarter (sounded good but who knows if they win the business)

From memory last q they forecast 9 to 10 million in sales so I assume they don't want to miss to the downside again.

Actually if the dd sales kick in this quarter its a plus (this is a confidential contract so the company can't publicize it as its confidential / secretive). That plus another win and the stock will gain momentum again but for now its had a failed breakout.
