I'm in favor of fairness and justice and don't care whether this helps the Dems in the future. The Constitution requires a simple majority for advise and consent power. The filibuster rules requires supermajority for advise and consent. The rule is clearly unconstitutional, but until recently NOBODY TRIED TO USE THE RULE to subvert the Constitution at the same time. The rule change may well end up at the Supreme Court and it is a Constitutional issue. Your explanation is right on the mark.
