You might try this for pain (I never have but the user seems very enthused and its cheap--he posted this on a yahoo group I belong to:) The website I posted, ycyhealth.com posts prices in both Canadian & US dollars, so it is confusing. Only read the price marked as USD, not the one followed by CAD. They used to ship for free, but I believe they now charge. You can call them instead of ordering online. I recommend doing so. The $98 (US) model is the CQ-27, the one called #1 in yellow highlighting. Instead, I recommend the CQ-222B, #3 in yellow, because it has a 15% larger head size for a greater coverage area, and more minerals, of which value I am unsure, but it can't hurt. The CQ-27D model #2 has no added value I can see over the CQ-27. The CQ-27 can take 3 treatments to cover the whole back, while the CQ-222B comes close to full coverage in 2. And, it is only $25 more, which is nothing in the long run. Larger coverage is very imortant to convenience. Still, I will repeat that the US $98 model CQ-27 is the most researched FIR device in the world! It has been on the market about 30 years, and millions have been sold in the orient. It was my first model and it works very well for any body pain to which I have exposed it, on myself and dozens of friends and acquaintances. It lasted 3 years of frequent use and lend-outs. The mineral disk has a lifespan, and they are sold separately, for about $25. since the TDP's are so inexpensive, I believe they are the only entry level FIR device to consider for any FIR use! They will make a believer out of anyone who will use them. Then, spending more for something else like a sauna won't seem like such a leap of faith. Also, I have found that the duration of treatment has a direct effect on relief. I have found that a 30-minute treatment on myself will last most of a day, while a 50 minute to 1 hr treatment lasts 1-1/2 to 2 days, for serious pain. For serious pain I recommend 50 minutes, at least once a day, every day until at least a week after pain has disappeared. I frequently use it thusly twice a day. A friend with 3 herneated discs in his lower back could not walk upright, or without pain. He had just spent 3 weeks in bed, on his back, barely able to move. After 3 50-minute treatments, 3 days in a row, he was walking upright without pain. He was not smart enough to continue daily treatments, even tho they were free and available all day every day. So, this brief treatment period cannot be considered a cure. But, it was a miracle to him, and he came for a treatment every time he felt any pain thereafter -- and spread the word to other friends. A lady with a rotator cuff injury used it 3 times over a week, and was relieved of serious pain. I lost count of the friends and friends of friends who came to use the TDP for lower back pains. Anyone willing to walk past my rottweilers was welcome. Everyone who used it for this said their pain was relieved. Some of these people bought their own. DO NOT even consider a table model lamp. The floor base is necessary in most cases to get it positioned properly. A table model is VERY limited!!! Bottom line: If you hurt, try one! The money will NOT be wasted. It will come in handy if you twist an ankle, or any other injury, at minimum.
