I agree with that, Dems should skip the south in 04. Those people vote on god and guns anyway, social positions that the rest of the country is deadset against. The northeast and west are solidly against Bush in my view. The south will go Bush and that leaves the farm states and rust belt. I say the rust belt goes against Bush based on the job loss situation. Farm subsidies are one of the massive Bush pork handouts so they go Bush. So a Bush defeat is my guess.

What is funny is the Bush supporters cannot see the structural changes in the economy - they think the unemployment statistics that are improving means people will get back to work and forget about this recession. No way, the job loss has been catastrophic in my view. No recovery in good jobs.

It might be interesting to break the US down by "subsidy States" and "pollution States" and track how they lean.
