thanks for the (cow)tip. IT boys told her it was 'something she downloaded' and fixed her up right as rain before I had to pull out the big guns.

Hi everyone, need some help with screen icons.

I have W98SE and a recent development is that the icons will apear at any position they desire when the machine is started, and the next time the computer is started they may not be in the same place they were the last time.

I would like the few that I do use and place in specific spots on the screen to stay put, but they dont, can anyone help fix this?

One other thing, I probably have icons on the screen that I never use MANUALLY, for example, my DSL is started automaticly, is it ok to right click on the one's I dont need and then hit delete? I hope it only gets rid of the icon and not what the icon leads to, but I know NOTHING about this.

I found this using the search for "icon" on this thread, would this be of any help to me?

Next thing I would try is installing Tweakui. It has a rebuild icons tweak in case the iconshell (not correct term) gets corrupted.

Thanks for the help,
