KC,

Re: SI is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G in its microcosmic reflection of American Politics today.

It ain't healthy.

It needs a DOCTOR!!

"Here's comes your nineteenth nervous breakdown...." The Rolling Stones

Back in the early 1970s, when this Stone's tune was popular, I backed off from what had been my first period of intense political campaigning against the depredations of the military-industrial complex against foreign sovereign nations and the American public. I was shocked that otherwise intelligent people could be so ravenously and viciously imperialistic and bloody-minded. That was another period of mass hysteria when the messianic delusions of grandeur overtook national policy.

Today, it is much the same. I find that articulate and passionate men like London Mayor Ken Livingstone are actually engaged in a bit of hyperbole when they claim George Bush to be the greatest threat to world peace who has ever existed. Maybe. But I recall LBJ and Nixon to be quite diabolical in their own right. And much more lethal to the so-called 'enemy' and our own expendable troops.

kcfos-

SI is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G in its microcosmic reflection
of American Politics today.

actually, SI is not even close to a microcosmic reflection
of americans and their political bent... it's a reflection
of people who were drawn to a forum to discuss and
gain/share information that might help them make money
by making profitable trades and investments in the
american (and other) financial markets.

it's a reflection of a goodly portion of the people
who are politically active but a very minor portion and
a poor reflection of voters and their concerns.

this is a consolation and relief to me. i hope it
helps you breathe more easily too. <g>

banned me from his " Politics For Bros " non-discussion thread..HAR HAR...

LOL! You actually got BANNED from there? LOL!

Well, I like some of those people on that thread, and as it turned out I was *asked* by someone (can't remember who) to join that thread. So, I get there, the title looks mainstream enough. I am mostly an observer in the Iraq mess, because I don't know much about war tactics (although I am vehemently against the instigation of that war)... so I mostly comment on economic issues which I do know about... many economic issues are actually *bi-partisan*... anyway this "politics for pros" thread starts attacking me on certain points I made which are correct, such as Calfornia corporations paying less taxes now than in 1994. I'm thinking... hey I'm a little outnumbered here, I think I'll scram, and then...

I get this PRIVATE MESSAGE from somebody on that thread who THINKS he is PMing somebody else to talk about MY POST- he obviously mistakenly clicked MY NAME when he meant to PM another of his right wing extremist buddies to discuss my POV behind my back, I mean what is this high school.... Then, I decide to query up my name on SI (to find something unrelated I posted on the AMD thread) and I accidentally find out there are these *other threads* where RWEs go to crosslink anybody's post that they don't agree with from the Pros thread and talk about them behind their back, here is one
Message 19409899

Pathetic!!!

Can you imagine this? I mean these people must be sitting at home snarling and growling as the world moves ahead and passes them by.

I don't think I'll be visiting the right wing extremist for pros anytime soon! LOL
