Carranza,

It's been several years 98 or 99 since I tried the Casa Lapostolle Cabernet. At the time our retailer had two versions a $12-13 range and a $19-20 range that may have been their Reserve blend. As I recall the lower price was not very good, bitter and alcoholy , inconsistent but the higher priced bottles were excellent, fruity , and strong Cabernet flavors. Naturally they stopped carrying the better version. I'll have to try it again.

I seem to head straight for the Australian section anymore. Two this week are S2 (Marquis Philips) Cab and Wolf Blass Shiraz.

C..I hope you're right, just ordered coupla cases of the Lapostolle C-S. Has anyone tried Smoking Loon Cab-Sauv 2001-Napa? Store man talked me into it today. Just opening my first bottle.
It's not too bad. Decent balance, just enough bite, bit of fruit and hint of choco, smooth/light enough for sipping w/o food, nice aftertaste.
For 7.50, on sale, 10 normal, is decent, imho.

PS, 'invented' a holiday drink the other day.
Eggnog with a bit of Butterscotch Schnapps, yum, a match made in heaven. Have also added some very dark rum to the mix on occasion, to cut the sweetness a bit for those that have that preference.
