I have no choice but to trust those in the CIA and the Special Forces who are hunting OBL. Nor do you.

I do have a choice not to put the same trust you do in reporters, and not to think that just because something isn't being reported, it doesn't exist. I hunt the net for pieces of stories, and Afghanistan hasn't been forgotten, even if it's dropped off the American front pages.

Ahh, those "Peace Loving" demonstrators in London, getting set to throw gas bombs.

Bret Hume Fox News
Rally Report

American and British Journalists in London have infiltrated the groups preparing to protest against the President there.

They report that the London Action Resource Center (search) -- describing itself as non-violent -- has taught demonstrators how to charge police lines and has discussed whether or not the hurling of petrol bombs constitutes an act of violence.

Another group, called Bare Your Bum at Bush, is calling for a -- "mass moon." A group handout, quoted in the Pittsburgh Post Gazette, says "Done as a lone act of defiance, [mooning] can bring a great deal of satisfaction. When done with a group of friends, it enhances the power of your statement and creates a bond you will share forever."

anytime gov't or powerful individuals say "trust me", it's time to check the wall safe and door locks and load the rifle.

I am all for keeping the rifle loaded.

Nevertheless, I think that comment oozes cynicism.

Then again, I have no recollection of the US Government ever saying trust me.

"What we DO know is the lack of success, and the relentlessly increasing terrorism, with reports from CIA and others that it shows no signs of abating."

Is that actually a quantifiable, verifiable claim?
