this whole conversation about fat and
being obese and being less than 'stellar'
because of weight has been very interesting
and enlightening.

why weight should be a contributing factor
in a person's worth as a human being has
eluded me. there was a time when women with
a "rubenesque" figure were much admired.
now they are ridiculed.

metabolism is one thing people have very little
control over even following the adage that
muscle burns fat ergo the more muscle tissue,
the less fat. not necessarily so - not with
everyone.

eating and other psychological disorders
are a huge problem with young people today,
mainly caused by the pressure to be thin and
therefore, accepted. obesity is a societal
problem - not a personal one.

i've always thought that one good thing
about forums such as this is that you can
make judgements about others based on what
they have to say (its hard to pretend
to be something you're not for long) without
their appearance becoming a factor.

i'd venture to say that is one benefit of being
blind as well.

not meaning to debate - just offering my
2 cents for what its worth.
