I have a question about "Spy Wiper".

Is anyone familiar with this? I had a bad experience
this morning before leaving for work. When I opened
my internet browser, instead of going to my home page
I was redirected to advertising for Spy Wiper. Something
obviously had control of my computer because my CD opened
and several message windows opened saying basically if
you can see this window you need to buy Spy Wiper, etc.

At home I have a Sony PC with Windows ME. I access the
internet through a router and thought that I had all the
correct security set.

I tried to get rid of the stuff by using my popup blocker
but all I did was disable my IE browser as well as the
popups. Now I can't even get a browser to come up.

Instead I get a window, not a browser, that looks like a
link to some sex site.

I am really pissed. I have never had a problem like this
before. The only thing different that I have done this
week is search AutoTrader.com and the website for the local
newspaper in Portland for car ads.

I plan to look tonight using Google before I leave work
to see if I can find anything, but I thought I would post
this to see if anyone has dealt with this crap and can
provide some direction as to what I need to do.
