So what is everyone's best guess about 2004.

In spite of apparent voter anger and skepticism that the system is honest, George Bush wins with 50.00001% of the popular vote, taking away a favored Democratic whine about how Al Gore actually won the popular vote in 2000. Diebold's CEO does indeed deliver the state of Ohio to his pal George Bush. Along with enough other states so that Bush's 300+ electoral votes appears unassailable.

Weeks after the election, most Americans come to realize that Bush & Cie. have pulled the same stunt that Eduard Shevardnadze attempted in recent elections in formerly Soviet Georgia and has stolen the election.

Uprisings in the streets of New York and Washington result in massive bloodshed and repression as America learns to its sad surprise that for a democracy to work, the military cannot be in control of all the levers of power. After millions are rounded up and sent to "family relocation centers", a new calm descends on the country.

Fox News reports minor disturbances in the major metropolitan areas have been masterfully contained by benevolent operations of loyal police benignly controlling radical Communist and anarchist elements at complete odds with American values.

CNN continues coverage of the Kobe Bryant trial, now in its second year, and the sensationally popular Michael Jackson trial.

Executives at ABC, NBC and CBS decide that for the sake of the country, news will no longer be available from Iraq.

Don't despair just yet. I think changes are coming.
