Mark,

LOL! Does it cross your mind that "Statements of Principles" are nothing more than legal figleafs these days? Have you read Enron's "Statement of Principles"? It's a howler. Honesty, ethics and integrity come before all else, according to Ms. Polly Anna Public Relations for Enron.

The guts of the PNAC phenomenon lies far deeper. In 2001, they demanded that Bush increase the Department of Death's percentage of the federal budget from 3.4% to 3.8%. And as if in lockstep, the FY 2002 budget request from the White House was for 3.79% of the federal pie.

If you get beyond the Boy Scout Statement of Principles, and dig a little deeper, you'll come across some real gems. Like the passage in the September 2000 white paper "Rebuilding America's Defenses" that hypothesized how very useful "another Pearl Harbor" would be for moving public opinion. A precursor of Operation 911? I'll leave it to your imagination.

Or how about the vision in this same pre-election document that stressed that the U.S. frontier was just outside of Baghdad? How's that for crystal-balling, eh?

Read the passages for yourself:

And don't forget, in the quest for a new Pax Americana this same planning document speculates on the usefulness of genome specific biowarfare. Imagine the possibilities of wiping out entire racial strains of the human genome, while leaving the WASPs completely untouched! Ah, the joys of having boosted biowarfare budgets by $5.2 Billion in the aftermath of the unsolved anthrax attacks of 2001. Oh, the joy!
