That's a funny one ...
Why can't WiMax be deployed at 800mhz?

If it did, it wouldn't be WiMAX, LOL.

W-OFDM variants, could of course.

Downsides :

(1) HIGHER antenna towers needed...
see Fresnel Effect ... zytrax.com

(2) LESSER throughput.

Upside:

Better ability to sneak around, and between tree leafs.

Sorry that was too funny to pass up.

OM

I suggest you drop in on Barry West in San Jose.
Message 19545445

He'll give you an earful about W-CDMA vs W-OFDM (he has nothing to say about CDMA2K).

As painful as it is (for you), the ONLY question that matters is 'What is NEXTEL buying?' .... ! The answer is WiDEN and WiMAX. ;^>

Cool Hand Luke

edit: doesn't Cascade own a good chunk of Nextel Partners?
