IRAQ: IT'S NOT JUST THE MESS IN YOUR HAND, IT'S IN POTAMIA TOO

Or: "With Friends Like These, Who Needs Enemas?"

Orca,

You ever just step back and try to take in the big picture? See the world as it really is, instead of how it appears to the dozen blind men each grabbing a different feature on the elephant? You might could want to do sumpin' like that on this here prickly Iraq problem. It is a Mess in Potamia, no doubt.

Now you might want to consider human nature when you come to the conclusion that we need a loooooong transition rather than a coitus interruptus approach to the rape of Iraq.

From my perspective, when I say "get the hell out immediately", I'm factoring in human nature. I don't think you did. Now human nature is going to make it nearly impossible to get out of Iraq, under the best of conditions. Why? Well, hell, Halliburton isn't going to quite squawking in Bush's ear ever about how they need the profits. Nor will Bechtel. So they are an impediment. Then you got the boneheads among the brasshats who are swelling their big swinging dicks up with pride in American superiority. Easy for them, they don't have their titty in ringer. That's what the grunts er fer. So, when I say immediate withdrawl, the symptom is going to linger for a year or two at the very best. By you suggesting a moderate course, you are just going to get steamrollered by all the forces that are going to oppose you ever leaving the desert. You'll be stuck in hell when your grandkids are growing grey hair.

Re: One of the first things I would do is to embed some freshly trained Iraqis with our troops.

Well, now isn't this special? Just how the heck do you think Wolfowitz's whereabouts in Iraq became known so that a missile attack could be mounted against him? It wasn't bubba down on the chow line that spilled the beans. It wasn't the newspapers. It wasn't the brasshats. It was the spies, les espions, the spooks the really smarmy and nice and kind and encouraging Iraqis who came and helped the Americans with domestic chores, with translating services, with policing. Mixing Iraqis enmasse into the midst of our fighting units? What are you a traitor? You're gonna get us all killed over there!

Stand back, take long view. The only "friends" the U.S. has in Iraq are a convicted bank robber President wannabee and his merry band of grifters. That's it. The Iraqi National Congress has a proven track record of lying to the Pentagon night and day for years before they got their way. And when it came time to do some work, like create a new Constitution where were all these INC worthies? Why, heck, they were all over Iraq cutting phat deals for themselves before others could. Hee Hee. Pay attention to human nature.

We need to leave Iraq. Yesterday.
