the thing that gore actually pushed for and got was the decimation of the defense by knocking out thousands and thousands of jobs...especially jobs having to do with military intel....quite a legacy considering it will take years to recover.

yes the "Al Gore inventing the internet" is just a bit of a joke, but most in tech know that Clinton and Gore did a lot of great things to enable the commercialization of some Darpa projects and especially the internet turned out to be a great thing. Gore deserves credit for that, also GPS I heard was commercialized at the same time.

Gore never claimed to have "invented" the Internet. What he said was: During my service in the United States Congress I took the initiative in creating the Internet.

Using the word "create" reminds me of another Gorism. "There is no controlling authority". Gore, like all other politicians, will spin it to their advantage. Most common sense thinkers realize that Gore used those words about the internet because they sounded like he was the creator - the one who hatched the idea. Like someone who invented or hatched the idea to sell pet rocks. EOM
