Actually I have a running battle with my husband about this. I pronounce it SIZM.
I think that the dark powers have managed to get SKISM accepted. I hate that.
This summer I corrected someone who said FORTAY referring to their strong suit. I said it was FORT. That the musical term was FORTAY. It turns out that the evil ones have taken over on that one also.
The worst one yet was junta. I heard a major newsman say JUNTA, rather than HUNTA.

How do U pronounce it?!

I watched a movie the other day on the sci-fi channel called Epoch. The promos were driving me crazy. They kept pronouncing the title EEEEE-pok. I just looked it up and that apparently is correct, as well as the e-pik to which I am accustomed. Still sounds weird, though.
