Wrong. Dems didn't know what hit them with the energy ripoffs until the damage had been done. The evidence proving Enron and Bushie other companies were involved in massive fraud didn't come out until Bush as in office. By then, Gore had decided to disappear for awhile and Bush was given the traditional 6-9 month holiday. Then 9-11 hit. Energy scandals started coming back as an issue but then Bush started the Iraq War talk and swept all other issues off the front pages. It was very intentional. They had a lot of covering up to do in and around the whole Enron mess. They were all involved, at least indirectly. But the biggest prize was Iraq's oil-fields. In case you don't know, the oil business doesn't have to tell the federal government anything it doesn't want to tell them. That's why they are so dangerous when they decide to get together and fix something or gouge. They can gouge any time they want. When have you ever seen an oil executive go to jail for gouging? The only thing that can hit them if they collude is litigation (trial lawyers) which is why the GOP has gotten so much corporate money to try and immunize the greatest offenders/polluters from prosecution.
