Strange is an apt description of market makers and specialists. I used the term "market maker", but I was actually referring to Nidec Corp.'s specialist, Bank of NY. To tell you the truth, we tend to "blame" these strange beings for our own ignorance of how the arcane trading system works. I believe that "odd lots" may be a specialty item that are not handled in quite the same way or under the same rules as "round lots".
