Much of this happened before Al Gore put the internet together. This is just one part of the more general topic of the early practicing of the neocons. Like I said, it's the same cast of characters but with much less experience so you get bungled jobs like Iran/Contra. I think it's usuful to try and understand the rise of this phenomina so that the depth and impact of the fall can be understood and not just experienced.
